Research: 3 thriller plots

Thrillers.
I think when it comes down to my top three thrillers it must be these three, and while the stellar cast, therefore quality performance, contributes largely to this, the main reason has to be the enigmatic story line. My chosen three have the common quality of a suspenseful plot, whereabouts the viewer embarks on a cinematic journey, making their own assumptions and conclusions, trying to figure everything out much like the protagonist.

1- The Silence of the Lambs:
(Director:Jonathan Demme)
Crime/Drama/Thriller

Clarice, a young FBI trainee is assigned the case of Buffalo Bill, a serial killer who skins his victims. In order to find out about this she is to interview a former respected psychiatrist; now cannibal inmate; Hannibal Lecter. To gain the information Hannibal can give, Clarice must first gain his trust and come to compromises; informing him of her  own difficult past (despite being instructed not to tell him any personal details).

2-Mystic River:
(Director:Clint Eastwood)
Crime/Drama/Mystery/Thriller

Three kids, Dave (Tim Robinson) and two of his friends, Jimmy (Sean Penn) and Sean (Kevin Bacon), are playing outside when a car pulls up and Dave gets abducted. Over a course of several days he is sexually abused and after his escape left traumatized for the rest of his life. Jimmy's first born, Katie, is murdered and Dave is soon made the main suspect in the investigation led by Sean, a homicide detective. The three childhood friends find themselves caught up in the issues of the past and present.

3-The Game:
(Director:David Fincher)
Mystery/Drama/Thriller

Nicholas Van Orton (Michael Douglas) is a filthy rich banker, but his success came at the price of his family life; divorced from his wife and with cold relations with his only relative Conrad (Sean Penn), it seems as if Nicholas is incapable of feeling or expressing any real emotions. On his 48th birthday Nicholas receives a card from his brother giving him access to a bizarre, new entertainment company: 'CRS', promising to 'make life interesting'. As he gives in to curiosity and accepts the membership a series of unusual happenings take place; a real life game, seemingly revolving around the element of his fathers suicide on his 48th birthday (-note Nicholas its Nicholas' 48th Birthday too), which he witnessed.

Institutional information-Company credits.

In relation to our thriller.
While we are only filming the first two minutes of our thriller, and must not get caught up in trying to create a short film, it is essential to have some sort of idea of how we would like our product to look if it were to turn into a full feature film. A story line will prompt us in the creation of characters; the two coming hand in hand, and the first few minutes of a film can be vital in establishing a character or a key setting that plays a pivotal role in the production.
